Q: How big can we build?
A: You can build any size you like but the larger you go the more likely you will need Planning Permission and Building Control. Garden Living have a number of standard sizes but we offer a free bespoke service that enables us to tailor the dimensions to your unique requirements.

Q: Will I need planning permission?
A: Planning permission is not required in most cases. We have a download of the current rules [click here]. There are always exceptions (conservation areas, listed buildings), and our planning team are always at hand to give you the required guidance. Indeed, manage planning on your behalf.

Q: Are building regulations needed?
A: Our garden rooms are exempt from the majority of building regulations. If your garden room requires building regulations Garden Living will project manage on your behalf.

Q: Can I add a bathroom or kitchen?
A: Yes, as long as you have water utilities to your main building. If they are not there we can help bring them from your main home to the garden room. Our Home Consultation will identify the best means to do this.

Q: Are the floors, walls and ceilings insulated?
A: Yes. We have a number of different wall and ceiling thicknesses from 100mm all the way up to 300mm if you so choose.

Q: Can you supply broadband and phones services?
A: Internet access and phone services are not a problem, and we will advise you of the best options available to your specific garden room.

Q: Does the red cedar cladding need treating?
A: No, red cedar is a wonderful and obvious choice for exterior cladding. It is durable and requires no maintenance. It is naturally resistant to decay and insect attack.

Q: What is included in the price?
A: All our prices include VAT, delivery and the construction of your garden room. Our quote will provide a separate price for electricity hook up to your main house and extras if you choose them so that you can see where you are spending money. Our policy is to be transparent.

Q: What can I use the building for?
A: The most popular use for our garden rooms is as a home office, but the garden room can be treated as you would treat any other room in the house. The possibilities are endless - a gym, pool room, a children’s play room, office, nanny studio and a ‘ManCave’.

Q: How quickly can I have one?
A: Once the design has been agreed, manufacture usually takes no longer than 2-4 weeks with construction taking a further 2-3 weeks. So from as little as a month after “design freeze” you could be sitting comfortably in your garden room.
